In this childlike fantasy, a boy finds an airplane and takes it out for a ride—to the moon, where it runs out of fuel. Just as his flashlight grows dim, a spaceship crashes, and a Martian climbs out. This is a very cute- if rather unrealistic- view of how kids can learn to face a difficult situation with hope and resourcefulness. Given that there's also an other-worldly friendship, it adds a unique perspective on avoiding xenophobia:)
I love that it's an actual story. So many books nowadays have just a word or two on each page. This is perfect for little ones, a sentence per page on average. Very cute story. I have several from this author, and so far all are great. Oh and check out the lost and found movie or book, super cute
I love this book. The illustrations are quirky but beautiful. It tells an adorable story of two strangers who work together to solve each other's problems, and then become friends. My 5yo loves it too!
Oliver Jeffers is a favorite in our house. This book is super cute. We love the illustrations, and the story is sweet. It is a nice book for bedtime reading and my boys have come to recognize Oliver's wonderful illustrations and his quirky stories. If you like this one, I also highly recommend "This Moose Belongs to Me" and "Stuck."
This was cute, but nowhere near as good as some of the author's other books. I would just rate this one as ok, and not one that will hold our kids' attention long term through multiple readings...we like his books, generally, and it's also a plus that he is from Northern Ireland, which is where the majority of our family is from, but I would not start with this one, necessarily...
Such another good book by Oliver Jeffers. This little boy is lost and meets an Alien while trying to find his way back home. It is delightful book and cute pictures. They become the best of friends. Highly recommend Oliver Jeffers books. Good for your library. Just by looking at the cover, you can tell it is going to be a great book. My 7 year old grandson can read it.
Jeffers is just great. This book brings out a child’s imagination and makes them want to explore!
I can't say enough about the power of books by Oliver Jeffers! Another amazing story with a great lesson about friendship and helping others.
