Really too bad about the publisher's choice to (a) make the book so small (6.4 x 0.7 x 8.4 inches), especially in light of their decision to (b) not fill the printed pages entirely with her words and images (some pages are filled, but most have AT LEAST a 1-inch margin all the way around). I'm only 50 and have reasonably good eyesight — I only need drugstore reading glasses of moderate or lower strenth — but this is VERY uncomfortable to look at even casually.And I so wanted to love it, being that I'm both an avid gardener and watercolor journaler. I'm still considering returning it...

I have two copies of this book which I purchased in the 1990s, but they are lost to me now. This copy arrived in the condition the seller stated. Save for a small blemish on the dust jacket, the book itself looks almost new.As for the book itself, this was my first contact with Sara Midda's work. Her tiny watercolors are exquisite gems and these gems, coupled with garden lore and advice are presented delightfully. There is plenty of white space around each page to help the reader fully enjoy both.The only drawback to this book is the same one I wrote for her Olives book: the tiny handwritten lines are now too small for me to enjoy properly. Back when I first read her books, my eyesight was better. That said, I can still derive a lot of pleasure from reading this.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful. However the print around the illustrations and even the illustrations themselves are extremely small. This adds to the delicacy in appearance of the book, but is awful if you are trying to read it. Still a wonderful book for those of us who love beautiful art work.

Seemed pretty enough -- if only I could have read it. Between the pastel ink color chosen for the text and the smaller font size, I actually had to use a magnifying glass with my prescription glasses to read some of these pages. At one point, I wondered if this was a facsimile shrunken from an originally larger trim size.very disappointed.

I agree with the reviewers who commented about the difficulty of enjoying this book because of the tiny size of the text and artwork. It's a shame, because it is clearly beautifully rendered work. Would love to see this reprinted with the artwork and text in a comfortably readable size. I think it would sell well.

One of my favorite books! I have a copy that I bought when it was first released, but it's been packed away for too long. Eventually, I'll select some of the beautiful single pages to frame.

Hundreds of small, engaging watercolors of the garden and whimsical little garden people, harmonized with beautiful calligraphy. Besides being filled with the author/illustrator's charming observations, it is a veritable treasure trove of garden lore, with many quotes from authors old and new and advice from classic, old treatises on gardening and horticulture. Also many enchanting, anonymous garden sayings and quaint herbal folk remedies. The history of fruits and vegetables as a part of our culture. I bought two copies of this book--one to just periodically carry around with me! It's one of my favorite gift books, too. You won't be able to stop dreaming over it. You'll adore it!

Good textbook, but not as concise as it could be on many of the topics. The kindle version is inconvenient because the pictures and diagrams are almost never on the page discussing them, and are sometimes separated by two or more pages. While flipping back in forth in a hard copy textbook wouldn't be to annoying, constantly flipping back and forth in the Kindle version gets old. Same thing for flipping between the problems at the end of the chapter, the example problems, and the explanations of the material. Highly recommend getting hard copy over Kindle Version.

The publisher of this book made no apparent effort to place illustrations on the same page as the text referring to them. The text consistently refers to illustrations and examples several pages forward or back. I find this completely unacceptable for a text of this type, at this expense, and in third edition. Much time spent reading this text is wasted looking for the page with the illustration or example. If they did not want to take the time to format correctly, they should have simply printed a companion with illustrations and designs contained separately.

It's a pretty good book. The more I study it, the more I like it. It's pretty easy to follow and there are a lot of good Verilog examples.

The appendix is the best part, some stuff is a bit over complicated to solve based on the content, especially when used in a sophomore level course. Good figures

I received this book, and the back cover was literally falling off. It is holding on by a 1/2 piece of ripped paper. If the back cover falls off, I am not paying for this book. This is entrapment.

Excellent! Exactly what I wanted!

I have a 2 year certificate from an electronics trade school and I wanted to brush up on my digital logic so I could build a simple project. After reading several chapters of this book I found it to be way over my head and I think it was written for people with a much stronger background in digital locic and not for the beginner.

The content is the same as the 2nd edt, but homework is different. So if you are asked to buy the 2nd edt, you can use this text but make sure you have access to the 2nd to do homework.

I like how the author tells us to do warm ups to get a feel of drawing before the actual drawing so there will be a lesser chance of errors while in the process of drawing. He gives some exercises to improve strokes. He has a chapter on the materials, the pencils, erasers, and the fundamental elements like lines, circles, curves, triangles, rectangles which will be used as we get into the various parts of the face and even the clothes the anime character you're drawing wears.

Drawing is always something that requires an artistic hand and mind. However, anyone interested in learning to draw especially the manga style drawing must get this book. It is a perfect guide which helps you get through the learning process without a hassle. The book is easy and clear to understand and step by step basic lessons help learning quickly.

The book itself was good. But it seemed odd, as if a hacker had tried to smush ads in. There was a page where no matter how many times I pressed, it kept going to the same page. The layout was choppy, and lacked many details. And there was an ad for Zentangle in the book that frankly seemed a bit shady. The cover picture was utterly irrelevant, and probably the only thing that helped. All in all, the book itself was for artists who had experience drawing manga, and is full of glitches and shady ads. I would not waste a buck on this book, totally not worth it.

I really find this book as a very great one! I have always dreamt to learn on how to draw and this book from .This book do provides a lot of tips and advices on how to draw for the beginners and what I love about this book is its tips are very easy to follow and yet you can see a very big improvement on your drawing skills.

Very very short. Super basic stuff. Will not have you drawing full manga. It'll let you know the barebones of character drawing manga style. Starter read.

Good but get this guy needs an editor. He is an excellent artist but not much of a writer. I can understand what he's saying but there are enough grammatical errors to make it distracting to read. He just needs to revise the book with the help of a good editor and it would be probably one of the best How to Draw Manga books on the market in my opinion. He goes into specifics that other How to Draw Manga authors such as Christopher Hart and Mark Crilley do not. Such as how to draw faces looking in different directions.Overall a good book. Just needs a good revision to fix the grammatical errors.

Joe Bruno is just an amazing author. His stories are always hard-hitting and to the point! No frills, just good old fact-filled stories!

Tells Hoffa's story but does not solve the mystery of what exactly happened to him.

I am a great fan of Mr. Bruno's books and this latest book was the best of his writings yet. When I read his books it is like having a conversation with him and that makes his writings even better. I rate this book a five star and I can't wait f o r his next book.

I found it interesting to read about the political friends and goes of Hoffa. This also ties into the show "Boardwalk Empire" I've been watching.

If you are curious about Hoffa's life, this is a goodBook to read. The end speculation is great.

Jim Rogers has had one heck of a life. From a small town in Alabama to the Ivy League to all around the world on a motorcycle, his insights are never preachy. He covers a wide range of topics here, including one particularly negative anecdote about his former co-worker, George Soros. (FYI: even back in the day, consent decrees were worthless.)Big on commodities, Rogers shares several predictions, including promoting farming as the job of the future. His overall reasoning is that food prices have been too low, and--just as in gold/silver mining or oil exploration--low commodity prices usually cause fewer producers and/or lower production, often leading to a crash before rebounding as new players, barred previously from the arena, enter and improve both quantity and quality. As prices increase due to the entrance of newer, more solid investors and competitors, the higher prices create a snowball effect, especially if banking institutions find the newly revived sector attractive and make loans. An avowed capitalist, Rogers points out, "The cure for high prices is high prices. It always works...." "The Soviets did not have anything because nobody produced anything, and nobody produced anything because prices were set so low."To Rogers' credit, he knows the flaws in his own paradigm, namely, crony capitalism. He lambasts Federal Reserve intervention in the economy, excoriating both Greenspan and Bernanke. Despite its flaws, in Rogers' experience, capitalism provides a self-reinforcing mechanism for regeneration aka creative destruction. It's true Rogers is known as a "bear," meaning he profits when publicly-listed companies fail, but the characterization is unfair--every hedge fund manager sells short.Readers interested in politics will enjoy Rogers' various comments on domestic and international affairs, including details about his new home, Singapore, and his reasons for moving there. Two passages stand out in particular: 1) "As recently as 1987 the United States was a creditor nation."; 2) "America is borrowing money to pay for military hardware that sits and rusts in the sun. The man who manufactures the hardware makes money, but after that, there is no beneficiary. The investment does not represent an ongoing source of production, the way a canal or a railroad does."There are too many jerks in the world of finance, but Rogers seems to be one of the good guys, someone who's never forgotten his humble Southern roots. Never disappointed to read a Jim Rogers Book. He not only discusses his thought on investments but better yet explains his philosophy on life. He also reveals how the world really works and how inept government officials have mismanaged their country’s throughout history.I gave this book a 4/5 only because I always think there is room for improvement. If you are looking for a stock tip in this book then don’t read it but if you are looking for true wisdom buy it and read it twice !

I have read every book Jim Rogers has written and this book rates as one of my favorites.Some of the excerpts that give you a look into Jim Rogers investment lessons."I learned that everything is connected. I learned that a revolution in Chile was going to affect the price of copper, and thus the price of electricity and the price for houses-the price of everything- all over the world, having an impact on everyone, including Toledo. I learned, also, that if you could figure out that a revolution in Chile was coming, you could earn a pretty good living"."You have to stay ahead of events. The action is never ending. It is like a four-dimensional puzzle, linked to volume and time. Every day you come to work and find that they have moved the pieces on you-somebody dies, there is a strike or a war, weather conditions have shifted. Things change, no matter what. Investing lacks the rhtym of other endeavors, and therefore never stops testing you.""Study of History and Philosophy were indispensable to me as an investor""The conventional wisdom that existed at the start of each decade was shattered over the following decade"."If History teaches us nothing else, it teaches us this: what appears undisputed today will look very different tomorrow."

This is another very well written book by commodities expert and world traveler Jim Rogers. Starting with his childhood in Alabama and his years at Yale and Oxford, Rogers tells how he came to Wall Street and got into commodities and currency trading as he and George Soros co-founded the Quantum Fund. Rogers gives an assessment of many aspects of Wall Street, Washington, D.C., the Federal Reserve, and academia that will, no doubt, anger the defenders of the status quo. As a tenured professor at Columbia, Rogers found that he only needed to work five hours a week. Academia with it's tenure system and high prices is a bubble ready to burst, to be replaced by Internet based courses. Rogers is very much a libertarian, seeing politicians everywhere as impediments to freedom and economic growth. He accurately predicted the commodities boom while the nation was fixated on dot.com stocks. He was selling bank stocks short in 2007 when the media said housing would go up for ever. These bubbles, runaway currency printing, and the resulting devaluation of the dollar Rogers blames on Greenspan and Bernanke, two people he views as totally incompetent with no understanding of currencies or how the world works. Seeing danger to American wealth and freedom caused by incompetence and plain stupidity, Rogers sold his house in NYC and moved to Singapore. Rogers tells us to save money, invest in commodities, and learn Mandarin. Singapore has a very strong currency and a savings rate of over 30%. Read this book. Buy it for your family.

The guy is very wealthy, educated, traveled, observant, connected and (ok) opinionated, He doesn't really go on and on about how great or rich he is. He also talks sense on the pages he's not providing an infomercial on his commodities funds. But it is his book after all.He has decided to live permanently outside the US and of course the book explains why.Buy the book for his explanation.Gladys Knight is singing "the End of the Road" in my brain.
