After finishing up the last series of The house of night (HoN), I felt like I lost some friends. Soon as I saw this book coming out I pre-ordered. So glad I did. It seems as tho Zoey and friends definitely got more work to do, with a twist. I enjoyed how the writers introduced new characters that totally makes the tale go forward in a good way. This book was well written and told a lot about the coming New series "Other World" . I hope there's more than one more book. Things could get really interesting.

I wad amazingly excited for this new book. I reread the original books in preparation and finished juat before I received my preordered copy. Sadly, I was unable to make it 100 pages in the book due to errors and inconsistancies. I feel like the book was rushed and not well reviewed before it's release. When I voiced concerns about the errors on the fb fan page, I was personally attacked by P.C. Cast and so have other fans. I did not even attempt to finish the book after this.

It is good to be back reading HON. The authors did a fabulous job with the book. I was laughing and crying with the nerd heard. I could not put this book down. The character are well personified, it is well written. I want more of the nerd heard.

I thoroughly enjoyed Loved. I have read all HON books so this was like getting re-aquatinted with old friends and finding out what they have been up to. The addition of the Other World is going to add such a new direction for our friends and I can not wait to read Lost in 2018. Thank you Cast women for bringing back this beloved series. I agree with P.C. HON would make a great series for TV. Hey Julie Plec are you listening, buy the rights!

A little disappointed. The story line was interesting enough although the dialogue between characters seems very juvenile. These are 18 year old "worldly" leaders of a society who drink "brown pop" and say "poopie". I am thinking they should have grown up by now.

I loved the House of Night series and could not wait to get my hands on this book. I preordered it just to be sure I got it as fast as possible. (Thank you Amazon) I love the Nerd Herd, and Zoey has so much potential as a High Priestess. I was a little disappointed in the lack of action in the first book. However I believe the writters are just setting us up for an awesome adventure as the did with the Original House of Night series. Still I loved getting back in touch with these charecters and see how far they have come. After being scattered across the country for so long and after such pain, loss and heart ach, this group has got the power to still keep me hooked. I look forward to the next book sadly I have to wait till July of 2018 but still I cant wait.

First let me say that not just Teens LOVE the Nerd Herd. my Husband and I BOTH love Zoey and the the rest of House of Night and we are both 63 yrs old. We both faithfully read the original series and loved them all except we felt let down by Redeemed that 12th installment. For some reason it just felt like they rushed to finish writing it. And was not nearly as detailed as the rest of the series. When I saw that the Mother and Daughter team were back writing a new House of Night Series I was thrilled. My husband wanted me to read it first to see if he wanted to get back into it. Obviously I loved it. The Characters were as they were, it just felt good to read these characters that we felt we knew. The "Other" World brings in a whole new twist that will be excellent . There is a nice recap of characters in the beginning of Loved but to be honest I really think you need to start from the beginning with Marked because you will get so much more of of Loved. Truly the only bad part of this book is that I finished reading it and the next one does not come out till July 18th of 2018 :-( That just seems like too long to wait.

I absolutely love the HoN crew and am beyond excited to see more of what they've been up to since the original series ended. As expected, PC and Kristin did not disappoint!Zoey and her Nerd Herd face a whole new set problems when they accidentally open a way for red vamps from another dimension of Tulsa to enter their world. As chaos hits their home, Damien and Zoey face an even harder dilemma as they recognize some of this evil horde of zombie-like creatures. Though they know the two aren't "their" people, they vow to save them. Meanwhile, Aphrodite is dealing with her own demons. Together with Grandma Redbird, and Nyx of course, the crew find that Love, always, is the way.I cannot wait to see what happens next but make sure you read the original series before you start this one. It's definitely worth it!

Stewart tries to let the facts tell the story but his comments when made are balanced and fair, critical when appropriate but also careful to point out when criticisms are just not supported by the facts. Caution: the book ends before the Starr report was published so the book does not cover everything you might be expecting. Monika and her stained dress do not appear.

An interesting book now during the election year. An objective account of the Clintons and some of the episodes that got them into trouble. It gives a new perspective on HRC’s “vast right wing conspiracy,” that was worth reading since I hadn’t paid attention before.

Lets me make up my own mind about Clintons.

It's a very non-partisan view of what occurred both before and during the Clinton presidency. Very eye opening account from all different angles.

Read it and loved it. It is a real 'history' of the antics of the Clinton's...thought we'd read (wife and I) before Hillary announces formally, if she does. After reading this, it would seem that she would be foolish to do so, given the unscrupulous things, dishonest things, and just morally wrong things, she has done. She is able to lie and deceive without blinking an eye, and is given to aggression against anyone questioning her past. This is a bad news lady, but a well written book. But for the grace of their pals around Washington, both Clintons would be in jail, were they named anything else.....read it and decide for yourself. Author is still putting out #1 Bestsellers, and he has no axe to grind...'just the facts, m'am'! I recommend

So interesting to read this just before the 2016 elections. Stewart is a great investigator and author; I've enjoyed all his books and his ability to organize material and present it with clarity. This book covers a tremendous amount of material and analyzes it well.I truly hope there is a sequel in the works, regardless of the outcome of this election. It seems that the Clintons learned very little over the past 20+ years, and it would be a great read if Stewart can pick up where he left off.Of course, a Stewart book on the Republican candidate would be fascinating, as well!

I understand there is no intelligence requirement prior to voting, but at the very least this book should be mandatory reading before the upcoming election.People should know that James Stewart was actually invited by Hillary Clinton to write this expose. When the truth became far less flattering than she would have scripted she attempted to control the author's work.Mr. Stewart refused any intervention and went on to publish the book with out the blessing of the wicked witch of the east.The attention to detail is flawless. The accuracy is frightening and the truth is impossible to ignore.

This is a well documented book about the Clintons. It is especially fascinating reading before the upcoming election in November.

For me, a lot of the suggestions are pretty boring and based more on romance than they are on sexual encounters (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it could be for those who already have a great romantic aspect in their relationship and are looking to spice up their sex-life, not their romance).(added photos of some of the checks in this book)And I don't exactly like that the idea of a time-frame requirement is intertwined throughout the concept of these checks (I get that real checks have a "due date", but for sex checks to have a due date- it's kind of a turn off for me).There's also a random check allowing voyeurism, so I can imagine that strictly monogamous couples wouldn't really like that check.

Bought these as a little extra something for a wedding shower gift... it got great laughs..only one of the coupons was x-rated. The rest were all cute and/or funny.

This is clearly meant to supplement the already fairly extensive knowledge possessed by your average Trekkie: e.g., the book presumes you know who Majel Barrett is (Number 1/Nurse Chapel/Deanna Troi's mother/Gene Rodenberry's wife) and that you're up-to-date with earlier gossip about the crew dynamics, which allows Doohan to gloss over his feelings about William Shatner: "I have to admit, I just don't like the man. And, as has been well-documented elsewhere, he didn't exactly have a knack for generating good feelings about him." As evidenced by the above, the writing leaves something to be desired, but there are insights and trivia enough for the fan. Actually, the best part predates Star Dates, as Doohan recounts a youth defined mostly by his family's poverty and his father's alcoholism. In 1939, motivated, no doubt, by equal parts devotion to duty and desire for escape, Doohan joined the military, where he spent five years in training before seeing action on the beaches of Normandy. On returning, he trained at a theater in New York City, worked with Leslie Nielsen, Jackie Gleason, Tony Randall; got a few TV roles; and even had a run-in with the entertainment industry's red-baiters. Doohan's a basically sanguine guy, with real insights into the extremely sharp double edges of his fame. After Star Trek limped to the end of its third season, Doohan said he was "saddled with all the disadvantages of a popular series (namely, being locked into a particular characterization) and none of the advantages (namely, continued employment)." With the old crew now unlikely to appear in any subsequent movies, Doohan clearly hopes this will clear the decks for a new acting career, sans brogue. Copyright 1996 Reed Business Information, Inc.

More than 10 years older than the other Star Trek actors who have given us their memoirs, Doohan remembers things they can't, such as radio as the primary entertainment medium and World War II from a participant's perspective. The war remains very bright in his memory, and his war experiences constitute a big, engrossing part of this book. A Canadian army lieutenant, he took part in D-Day, caught some machine-gun fire, and lost a finger. He also lost his intended bride to a doctor back home, so he immediately became an air surveillance pilot. He survived the war, anyway, and coming home after six years in the service, studied acting at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse (Richard Boone, Lee Marvin, and close friend Leslie Nielsen were classmates), finally faced down the father whose drinking and violence had marred his childhood, and married his first wife in 1949. The marriage lasted 17 years, not happily; meanwhile, he moved to TV and Hollywood. It is page 127 before Star Trek memories commence. Those who think that isn't soon enough should get in a 12-step group for Trekkoholics. Sure, there are good things in Doohan's ST recollections (e.g., he allows that an outstanding performance by Bill Shatner as Captain Kirk was "pretty okay" --ouch!), but what precedes it is arguably better. Quick easy read for Star Trekkers. Mr Doohan covers alot of ground here and doesn't go into that much detail about anything, but there are other books for that. Keep in mind that this was written some 25 years after the show went off the air.James was a salt of the earth type of guy, and just perfect in his role as a Scottish engineer of the 23rd century. Of course he wasn't Scottish , nor did he have an engineering degree of any kind. It was all fiction, people! But they made it seem so real and they taught us lessons about courage, perseverance and friendship along the way.The copy I purchased was used and rated "acceptable", but the condition was actually good. Imagine my surprise and joy when I saw it was autographed by Mr Doohan! He was known to be very appreciative of his fans. He was a down to earth person who embraced the enduring popularity of the program. Apparently, William Shatner rubbed him the wrong way at times, but that is to be expected.Not too long after this book was written, he began to develop symptoms of dementia and he has since passed. Thank you, Scotty, for your career and your service in WWII. You are not forgotten.

An excellent book. This is as much a tale of a young soldier as a cherished TV hero. About 1/3 of the book has to do with his "coming of age" over six years in the Canadian military. Most of those military years were based in Britain, on both sides of D-Day! He eventually rises to the rank of captain and becomes a small plane pilot after suffering injuries both physical & emotional.A few chapters later, when he does finally get to those 3 magic years of ST:TOS, he gives a brief synopsis of each episode - many of which he has a peculiar viewpoint of. Throughout the book he writes of family tensions, loves, thespian training alongside others who became well known, and a constant sprinkling of minor disappointments throughout. Mr. Doohan is a human striving to be a bit better - the epitome of Star Trek through his life-story.Also of note is the co-author, Peter David. I have read several of his fiction pieces - especially those based on TOS or NG. Each was good and most were also excellent. Peter catches each character perfectly in his fiction (I've only seen one paragraph that didn't!) and in this autobiography he perfectly conveys the meaning in speech cadence of how Jimmy Doohan actually spoke.I never met Mr. Doohan in person, but after reading this book and seeing a very few interviews online I feel like I know him quite well. Perhaps someday there will be a biography of Mr. David as well. I would also highly recommend the autobiography of De Kelley also.

My husband and I are old enough to have watched "Star Trek" on network TV when it originally aired, which is why I purchased this book. What makes it fascinating however is Doohan's military service in WW2. Like many other celebrities of this era, he had an early life of service that deserves to be known. I am so humbled to know now what this book revealed about the man previously knew only as "Scotty."

Done in collaboration with Peter David, who compiled and edited together his discussions with Jimmy Doohan, this autobiography offers us the chance to know more about the man who became an inspiration to fans, engineers and astronauts. Concise and with simple descriptions, Jimmy Doohan narrates his career on Star Trek TV series, movies, and fan convetions, but he also discuss his childhood in Canada, and his military life during World War Two. In fact, there are more information about his life outside of Star Trek than about the TV show, but I was happy about that because we got to find out more about Jimmy than Scotty, because I think that Jimmy's life is an imprtant way to understand why Scotty was such a popular character with fans since as he said in this book, Scotty is 1% scottish, 99% Jimmy. Not only that it is a good way to find out how his acting career evolved from working in Canada and the American East Coast to going to Hollywood.Of course, Jimmy mentions his friendships and conflicts he had on Star Trek, such as with William Shatner, but he also comments certain episodes, which I loved because they allow us to see, under a different perspective, storylines that we may have loved or disliked.As this biography was done in 1996, and since there are no reedition of this book, I wish someone could do another biograhy about this actor, for I think that it would be nice to see Jimmy's perspective on his life between 1996 until his death in 2005. If not, it would be nice to have extra chapters included in a reedition of this book, either on paperback or on Kindle.

"Beam Me Up, Scotty" offers a rare yet nice glimpse into the actor, James Doohan, who portrayed our favorite Engineer in Star Trek, original Series. Nice background on his personal life and entrance as an Actor. Gives another angle into the Original Star Trek TV series beyond those books written by Kirk (Will Shatner), Spock (Leonard Nimoy) to name a couple. Glad I purchased this book, nice, easy read!!

Received my book a day early. The spine is only VERY slightly misshapen at the bottom and top. No markings inside the book. Book is softcover though I was expecting hardcover. Would recommend.

Quite a good book, as Jimmy Doohan had an interesting personal story even before Star Trek came into his life; I didn't know that he was a WWII vet, for instance, and quite a distinguished one at that! I thought this book was very interesting.

As a collector of star trek stars biographies this is a nice addition to my collection.
