This book is all wrong. It does not ma k e much sense given what is widely known about slavery and racism in the south. This interracial couple has sex almost immediately after Angela is raped. Insensitive. Makes no sense at all. Try again. Can't say anything more.
You placed fantasy where you should not have and reality where fantasy was needed. Things did not add up or make sense. Small example , Travis can request money to be wired on a whim for a whore but needs to wait weeks to collect money to save the woman he loves. Way too many typos. Sigh. I am sorry to say that I am disappointed by this book.
Very poorly written and edited. Besides the numerous spelling mistakes it just missed the mark. It made little rhyme or sense to believe in the middle of the civil war people were concerned with runaway slaves when half the slave population was running. Some even killed to escape. But to leave the plantation unmanned during war is unreal. The jail break was totally unbelievable. Worse than that is the ending which appears to display the writer’s lack of imagination at best and his just wanting to stop the pain of writing this book, so he just quit. This is the part I sorely hate. If I could bear through all the incomplete passages and the lack of imagination, I believe the author owed it to the reader to provide a good ending to a hopeless tale. 2 Stars for getting it published.
This book was so close to have five stars! But managed to be worthy of one star at the end! The only reason I didn't give the one star was because it really was a five star book right up until the end. The author created some great characters and gets you all invested in them and then pulls the rug out from under you! I have never been so livid finishing reading a book as I was with this one. Prior to the end the only quibble I had was (since its already been spoiled in other reviews) Angela making love so soon after a gang rape didn't ring true but I was willing to overlook that. I was all set to move on to the author's other books but now I have to give pause after this experience.
I really feel that Michael has landed in a place with this book that will draw all people in. It has all the factors of GREAT writing that one looks for and I am hopeful that this is just a beginning of a collection of such books by Michael. I am just biting into book and can already tell that I will be waiting for number 2. By the way, I have enjoyed all the books that I've read by Michael Edwin Q. Thank you Michael; "Way to Go"!
No one can explain the power of love when two people genuinely fall in love.Could not put the book down even though the end was sad.
I loved this book. It's two separate stories that mingle together for a great read.I hope to read another book by this writer.
I really liked this book. All of the characters were rich and deep, and I enjoyed the way the relationship between the main characters, Travis and Angela, evolved. It kept me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, never knowing what would happen next. I can’t say more without giving away too much, so I will just say read this book and see for yourself how Michael Edwin Q has served up yet another delicious story for us to feast on.
