I am still a beginner but with this book I've learned to apply some basic techniques. Now I can paint pictures that my family enjoys. Overall, this book is an excellent publication---layout, explanations, and graphics.

This is one of the better books on beginning Pastels use. I used it in my art class for Middle Schoolers.

It was okay but not what I expected.

I am an absolute beginner and this book was a great help. It takes you step by step through techniques to making pictures and includes a list of the colors you need. It helps build up your skills. If you know nothing about pastels but would like to, BUY THIS BOOK!

I have got the french version and yes this book is suited for the beginners.Just 6 pastels for the beginning (3 warm color and 3 cold color) and move on

This book enables a beginning pastel artist to grasp the fundamental. I have looked over a number of books on pastel painting and this one is more comprehensive and useful.

It's better than most beginner pastel books, for which I'm grateful.
